Modern
Dance was initially created by ballet dancers who wanted to escape
the rigors of ballet. Modern Dance is ever-growing and ever-changing
and can easily be termed "creative movement," or "contemporary
dance." It develops as dance and dance exploration. The contemporary
title should not to be confused with today's hip-hop or video-style
dancing, however. Modern dance is still an extremely expressionate
form of dance, linked closely with nature, breathing, falling, and
escaping. Its strength comes from the spine, pelvis, or chest and
it rests solely in the heart of the instructor/choreographer.
